Who We Are
AVEQ was founded in 2018 in Vienna, Austria, by former researchers and members of Deutsche Telekom's R&D department (T-Labs), as a spin-off of Ilmenau University of Technology.
Our vision has always been: bring standards to production, and do it with the highest scientific rigor.
In the beginning, AVEQ focused on crowdsourcing QoE and privately funded research projects. We learned what it takes to combine cutting-edge academic research and industry needs.
In 2020, we released Surfmeter — starting as a mobile app, it is now a whole suite of tools that gives network operators, service providers, and system integrators objective data about the quality their customers actually perceive.
Our technology is grounded in years of academic research in video quality assessment, contributions to standardization groups, industry workshops, and exposure to the video developer scene. Our core technologies include the ITU-T Rec. P.1203 standard for measuring streaming quality of experience. We translate this research into practical, deployable solutions.
