AVEQ and zafaco announce collaboration

News

We are proud to announce our collaboration with zafaco GmbH, the technology and market leader for broadband network tests. This partnership is all about setting new benchmarks in video streaming quality measurement and optimization for ISPs.

As part of zafaco’s kyago platform, our Surfmeter solution measures select international video services like YouTube, Netflix, and TikTok, as well as local brands including 3sat and zattoo. Furthermore, together, we analyze the quality of the IPTV platforms of the major ISPs in the DACH region. This ensures we’re covering a wide range of video services across Europe, providing insights into the quality offered by major network providers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Our combined solution allows ISPs to deeply analyze and enhance their video streaming service performance, by offering both detailed KPIs as well as an overall quality score for an entire streaming session — the Mean Opinion Score. At the core of Surfmeter is a unique and innovative QoE model based on ITU-T standards, incorporating the latest research and technology, fostered by our collaboration with TU Ilmenau. This ensures that video quality is rated accurately, focusing on what real users would experience.

With the collected data, ISPs can understand where they stand in terms of video quality, and customers can make better informed choices about what providers can offer them. Like every year, you will find the results and rankings in public media. Watch out for more news later this year!
