AVEQ Surfmeter Brings Automated, Standardized Video QoE Testing to Enhancell’s Echo Tools 5.0

News

AVEQ is pleased to announce a strategic SME partnership with Enhancell, a leading provider of software-centric mobile network testing solutions. Enhancell is known for transforming standard commercial smartphones and tablets into professional drive test tools, allowing operators to verify network performance without bulky hardware. Through this collaboration, our technology is now embedded directly into their widely used testing ecosystem.

Surfmeter Integration

Our Surfmeter solution was successfully integrated into the newly released Echo Tools Version 5.0. This partnership introduces the first standardized QoE MOS for adaptive streaming to the Enhancell platform, specifically designed to support automated testing workflows for connectivity and streaming.

With the Surfmeter engine now embedded in Echo One and Echo Plus, Enhancell users can run fully automated test sequences that replicate real-world usage. Instead of relying solely on technical RF parameters, engineers can now assess the actual Quality of Experience (QoE) by automatically streaming content from popular platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Netflix, and Facebook.

The solution utilizes the ITU-T P.1203 standard to calculate a precise Mean Opinion Score (MOS). This allows for rigorous verification of network connectivity and streaming performance under varying conditions. The resulting data provides an objective, standardized metric for how the network handles video traffic, offering deep insights into 5G performance.

All metrics are captured directly on the handheld device and can be analyzed in detail using Echo Studio, enabling operators to correlate connectivity issues directly with user-perceived video quality.

About Enhancell

Enhancell specializes in developing software-based network testing tools that run on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices. Headquartered in Oulu, Finland, their Echo ecosystem (including Echo One, Echo Plus, and Echo Studio) simplifies indoor and outdoor network verification. By moving away from proprietary hardware, Enhancell provides operators and vendors with agile, cloud-connected solutions for testing and optimizing technologies from 2G to 5G.
